I know that many of you have been beyond lost and overwhelmed with this topic.
Many want to get some Montessori materials, but you don’t know what to get first.
My goal is to help you by giving you some guidance, without telling you exactly what to get.
So come and get these three guiding tips that will give you more clarity on what to get without feeling so lost.
You will definitely be able to narrow down all the many wonderful options.
If you are looking to building a centered, organized Montessori Guide in yourself, nurture happy, normalized children and want to create smooth, successful Montessori days, then you are in the right place!
Let me know in comments what you know about this topic, what you have applied, what you have tried that worked, what you have tried that didn’t work and if you have any questions as we get into this training.
What happens when I don’t know what Montessori Materials to buy?
Do you need help knowing where to turn when it comes to getting the right Montessori materials for your children right here, right now?
I’m here to help!
As you watch or listen to this training, know that you will be able to get more information than what is included in this blog post.
I really want to encourage you to take the time to watch or listen and take notes.
This will be helpful to you now and in the future.
#1 Consider the children’s ages
In the Montessori Curriculum 3-6, you not only consider children’s chronological ages, but you also consider their emotional ages as well as the Sensitive Periods that they are currently in.
You need to observe them intently and closely.
During this period of time, children will show you what they are interested.
This will be a big clue for you so you can maximize learning for them.
Whether you are wondering about this for your homeschooling days or your Montessori environment, you will be feeling so much better when you get the right things.
One of the biggest clues to you is to determine their ages (chronological, etc) so you can determine the common sense order fo the materials to get.
Take sandpaper letters, for example.
Would you get a material for children to read and write or would you get the sandpaper letters so children can first learn the names of letters, sounds of letters and the shape of the letters?
Common sense, right?
“We shall walk together on this path of life, for all things are part of the universe and are connected with each other to form one whole unity.” Maria Montessori
#2 Consider what you want to focus on
Besides the children’s Montessori Sensitive Periods, you also need to think about the subjects.
There are two particular subjects that are unique and special to The Montessori Philosophy.
These two subjects are Practical Life and Sensorial.
The other subjects are the same as the traditional schools, even though the subjects are taught in very different ways.
A young child needs to learn to handle small objects to perfect their fine motor skills.
This is what the Practical Life Montessori work list will do, among other things such as foster independence, confidence and self-esteem.
The Sensorial subject connects children’s minds to their bodies and are more aware of their needs and wants as well as know how to communicate those.
So, once you decide whether you want to focus only on following Montessori in Practical Life and Sensorial or you will follow all subjects, you need to get materials that are common sense in terms of order.
“If education is always to be conceived along the same antiquated lines of a mere transmission of knowledge, there is little to be hoped from it in the bettering of man’s future.” Maria Montessori
#3 Consider your budget (financially and space-wise)
When it comes to a Montessori homeschool schedule or in a school, you do have some aims, but no particular specifics.
To do Montessori right, you do need original quality Montessori Materials.
But if you have a limited budget financially and space-wise, then you will also want to consider other options.
Some of these options are DIY (do it yourself) and printables.
The bottom line is that children are learning.
Read on to find out more on how to get some great Montessori printables and a list of original materials!
“Our care of the child should be governed, not by the desire to make him learn things, but by the endeavor always to keep burning within him that light which is called intelligence.” Maria Montessori
In Conclusion
Whether you are doing Montessori at home or at a school, your goal is to nurture every child’s absorbent mind.
You can do this with the right Montessori materials.
