Instant Pot Bone Broth Recipe

I can tell you that you that the best bones for bone broth are definitely organic. You can make bone broth separately by kind (beef, bison, buffalo, chicken, etc) or you can make a mix of several. I do this sometimes (especially when I am having a hard time collecting enough bones to make 3 lbs).

Ingredients

  • Instant Pot
  • 3 lbs meat bones of choice beef, chicken, turkey, fish, bison, etc (I recommend organic ones)
  • 3 carrots greens cut off
  • 2-3 celery stalks cut in half
  • 3 cloves of garlic unpeeled
  • 2 small onions or 1 medium one cut in half
  • optional: bell peppers
  • herbs and spices of choice I like oregano, turmeric, Himalayan salt, peppercorns, etc
  • 2 tbsp app cider vinegar
  • 10 cups of water give or take

Instructions

  • lace all of the above ingredients (bones firsin the Instant Pot and fill the rest with water, up to one or two inches below the MAX or FULL line in the inside container. Close the Instant Pot, set the lid to "SEAL" and set it to MANUAL setting for 120 minutes. Two hours is amazing! I used to wait 12 hours for my broth to be ready on the stovetop!
  • Once the timer is done, let it release the pressure naturally, so let it do its thing until it beeps. It will take about 20 more minutes, in case you wanted to estimate to total time it will take. Open the Instant Pot and let it cool for about an hour. Strain it and either toss the veggies and the bones or keep the veggies and blend them in the blender to throw back into the broth.
  • I follow the ketogenic diet, so I do not scrape the fat on the top off and toss it. I keep it in! You can choose to do either one. Keep in mind that you will be tossing the a lot of the good collagen out with it.
