Take a look at what we did at the end of February. ๐ Better late than never, right? ๐

K and I have been absolutely loving A.C.E. I adjust it to our needs and schedule and it is working out so well that we will continue using it indefinitely. As he finishes his PACEs (booklets) and memorizes Scripture, he gets a golden star each time and that is an encouragement to him. He is doing great with this program. It isn’t individualized yet (as it is in the older grades), but that is ok. It gives us an opportunity to develop a special rapport that we couldn’t if he were just working on his own.
The best part about it is that I grew up with this program and now I get to use it with my child. Eventually, A will use it, too. ๐

K is loving and retaining so much when he does Rosetta Stone (Latin American Spanish, Homeschool Version).
A was given a straw the other day and she said to me, “Look, Mom! A seven! Here is a seven!” She was right! The straw did look like the number 7. By the way, yesterday, she surprised me by counting up to 20 in English and up to 14 in Spanish! This girl! ๐
McGuffey’s Readers and Classical Conversations Review
K is doing very well and fit in well with the McGuffey’s Readers (first published in 1836, I believe).
We are memorizing Exodus 20:1-17 (KJV). We take turns reading each verse, but towards the end, he just does it all. Haha. Happens every time.
We absolutely love the Classical Conversations materials. This year, we are working on the memorization part of the memory work. Next year, when we revisit it all, we will go more in depth in each lesson. He is only four years old; there is no hurry.
We study: Timeline, Geography, History, English Grammar, Science, Math and Latin.
A.C.E. (Accelerated Christian Education)
We are also loving this curriculum. A.C.E. has a special spot in my heart because it is the curriculum that I grew up with (in a school, not homeschool, setting). He is thriving with it and is excited every time we start a new animal story and a new PACE (booklet).

Montessori Math: Large Number Cards and Golden Beads Tray
We introduced this lesson HERE. Now, we extended that Presentation.
Here are the ones, tens, hundreds, and thousands large number cards.
Then, we look at the golden beads and match the beads to the cards.
Next, we overlap the ones over the tens cards to create more numbers. We matched the beads with the quantity specified on the cards.
Montessori Culture (History): The Four Seasons
We read this book (it is bilingual, so we learned several Spanish vocabulary words).
Then we opened each folder dedicated to each season. I simply found images from the internet that depicted the gist of that season. I printed them out and glued them onto colored cards that match the season’s folder. These are for personal, in-home use, and that is why I am not linking to the images. This is an easy diy project and it doesn’t take too long either.

Montessori Sensorial: Smell Bottles
I decided to use our off-brand essential oils, not only to finish them up (and keep only the good-quality – Young Living ones), but also to use them liberally, without worrying about wasting our precious drops of the Young Living essential oils.
Materials Needed:
– Six different essential oils (we used Lemon, Eucalyptus, Lavender, Spearmint, Basil and Rosemary)
– 12 cotton balls or fabric squares
– smell boxes (no need to have the actual Montessori ones, any jar with a lid will do, just color-coat the lids with paint, permanent markers or whatever is on hand). Two sets of six needed.
– computer, tablet, cell phone (anything with internet connection) or a book with information and pictures on these essential oils
Set-up Steps:
1. Take one red bottle and one green bottle. Take lids off.
2. Pick one essential oil and put a few drops on a cotton ball.
3. Place the cotton ball inside one bottle and close.
4. Do that again and place inside the other bottle.
5. Take another red bottle and another green bottle and take the lids off.
6. Pick another essential oil and put a few drops on two cotton balls.
7. Each bottle gets one cotton ball inside and the bottles are closed.
8. Repeat with the rest.
We appreciate you reading our post that may help your family’s health. For our Health Advice and Recommendations Policy, please click here.
Activity Steps:
1. Open the internet or book and search for the first essential oil source. Show pictures and information.
2. Smell the essential oil out of the dropper bottle.
3. Open and smell the red bottles until the matching essential oil is found.
4. Do the same with the green bottles.
5. Once the two matching bottles are found, they are set aside with the essential oil dropper bottle.
6. Repeat Steps 1-5 with the rest of the bottles and essential oil dropper bottles until they are all matched.
Montessori Science (Botany): Parts of a Fruit
We read some information on the different kinds of fruit and how their seeds are different, but they all produce matching plants out of those seeds.
We also studied our nomenclature key cards and observed an actual fruit (an apple, cut in half).
Then he matched the 3-part nomenclature cards.
