We received The Useful Box from Curiosity Boxes and it was a huge surprise when I opened the box. The box was completely filled with amazing and excellent-quality materials ready to create.
Curiosity Boxes are a set of awesome boxes with open-ended ideas that grow problem-solving skills and nurtures innovation in every child’s mind. All the materials in the Curiosity Boxes are age-appropriate and safe to be used by children ages 3+.
Basically, you get a box full of materials for arts and crafts, but they include some awesome cards with pictures of some of the things that you could create. One of the things that we loved, actually, was that the cards came with just pictures of the craft idea and pictures of the materials needed.
There are no instructions to follow! That is where innovation, imagination, problem-solving and creativity come in. Children observe the card as a prompter and they go on to make their own unique creations that make them their own and now a cookie-cutter craft.
Curiosity Boxes doesn’t include any commercial crafts. It is all “in the raw,” ready to get kids inventing their own crafts or giving crafts their own spin using everyday objects. It really teaches children (and parents) how to create with common items and it shows that nothing fancy or expensive is needed to come up with something unique and beautiful.
Each box comes with about 10 idea cards and more than enough materials for all of those crafts. Since I have two children, I split the stack in half, giving each crafts that they could create for their age (one is 3 years old and my oldest is 5 years old). They both loved each of their choices and created their own beautiful crafts (as you can see in the pictures in this post).
What is even more amazing, is that Curiosity Boxes is committed to sending only sustainable and recyclable materials so even if you don’t use something, it won’t be wasted or leave a carbon footprint on the planet. I really like that!
Curiosity Boxes currently has 2 awesome boxes available (ready to order): The Useful Box and the Useful Box plus Basics, but by the end of this month, they will launch two more boxes: The Bugs Box, and the Music Box. I am so excited to see and use those with my children!
When we opened our Curiosity Box, we were amazed at how much was in it. And we loved the variety of craft ideas that came with The Useful Box. I looked at all the idea cards and split them up into two groups, guesstimating the level of difficulty (although you can make all the crafts as easy/simple or a difficult/elaborate as you want) and let each of my children pick one craft to make that evening.
Once we got started, they were asking me when we were making the rest of the crafts and as they worked on their current crafts, they were already showing excitement about the next craft they’d make. They loved their first craft so much that they asked me if they could make a second craft each. It has been so much fun. I know they like it so much because they ask for it daily. I love it when my children are both focused, learning, creating and loving every minute of it!

We did that dinosaur peg before when Mavi was 2yrs old and that was one of Mavi’s favourites! And I love your glued pasta. Maybe I can try it with Vito 😀
