If you are thinking about homeschooling your children full-time, or you are already a homeschooler and just want to get more organized, then you have come to the right place.
Like with most things, homeschool works best when it is planned out and organized.
It can be hard to wake up one day to get the children enthused to learn when you’re not sure what you’re doing that day.
Being at home, there are other distractions, and that can be tough to prioritize your time.
Unless you’re taking an unschooling approach to learning, then getting organized and planning lessons and ideas ahead of time will really help.
Here are some tips to help to get your homeschool more organized.
Have all you need in your home learning area
Although you may go out of the house on trips and adventures, and do learning in other parts of the house, having a dedicated home learning space can be a great way to get organized.
When everything is in one place, from pens to paper, and everything in between, you’ll all be good to go.
If you’re searching for things all over the house, it will delay the day and be much more difficult.
Make sure your computer runs efficiently
If you want to make sure that your computer is running efficiently, then it is a good idea to give it a little TLC.
When it runs efficiently, you will be able to find what you need easily, and it will make a big difference to how organized and sorted your lesson plans are.
Plus, you can find files and programs more easily when you don’t have any similar and duplicate files on there.
So go through your computer or laptop and only keep what is going to be relevant to homeschool, as well as making sure the computer is protected by antivirus software.
Establish a routine
Although homeschool allows you flexibility, children do thrive on routine.
Knowing what to expect each day, such as when homeschool breaks are and when working time is, can make such a difference to how productively they are able to work.
If you can write it down and have it on display, then it will help the children to know what to expect and when.
A creative idea is making a printable school calendar with your child’s photos.
Apart from daily routine and lessons, you can include upcoming fun activities and holidays.
This will help your child to organize their studies and display days they can look forward to at the same time.
Tackle tougher topics in the morning
When you are doing your planning of what you want to do each day, then it is a good idea to put some of the harder topics or subjects in the morning.
Children will be more focused, and it can be something that feels good to get done and out of the way.
This could vary from child to child, as they all excel in different areas, but being able to get certain topics done first can make a big difference.
All in all, planning ahead could be done as far in advance as you want it to be.
Having a rough schedule for each month can be helpful, but then going over each week, the week before, will make sure that you’re ready to go when you need to.
