We are HUGE fans of World History in our homeschool.
It is one of my favorite subjects to learn about.
Even my favorite book genre is Historical Fiction because of the great factual information.
When we get into how a civilization began and important things that happened with them, we really delve deep.
As we learn about the ancient peoples, we include arts and crafts and more!
World History is part of the Social Studies academic subject.
In this post, I am going to show you the curriculum that we are using for our History studies, but to be more specific, we will be going into Ancient History.
It has been three years since we last delved into this time period, so it is great to review and then dig deeper.
Ancient Civilizations Activities
School students study ancient History, but in a shallow manner.
We like to go deeper than what is taught in school and that is why we mix it into other subjects.
Teaching ancient early civilizations through Language Arts is a really great way to tie in many aspects in learning.
We love learning about:
- Ancient Rome
- Ancient Greece
- Ancient Egypt
- Ancient Mesopotamia
- Ancient China
- and the rest of the Ancient world
See, the curriculum that we use is actually a creative writing curriculum that focuses all of its stories and activities on Ancient History.
It is called Ancient History-Based Writing Lessons.
It comes with the Teacher book and the Student book.
You can get them separately or as a combo.
I highly recommend that you get both as you will be able to know exactly what is expected and how to do the lesson plans and activities right.
This is a wonderful theme-cased writing curriculum that contains awesome stories that teach children about Ancient History.
You will delve into topics such as: the lighthouse of Alexandria, the Trojan horse, the Pharos island legend, Pompeii and more!

Review
Personally, I love how well put-together this curriculum is.
The amount of information the children get, how much they learn to write beautifully and how to get creative is fantastic.
As a homeschooling mother of 10 years, I completely recommend it.
I am so pleased that this curriculum includes information about Ancient History.
This is because when we actually get into these topics in our History curriculum, we will already have some background information about so many topics.

Personally, I am in heavenly bliss with this game.
The cards have so much fun and succinct information that it is easy to regulate and remember.
This is a fantastic board game.
We are excited that we are taking it on our camping trip because it doesn’t take a lot of room in our camper.
DAUGHTER (9 years old):
