A Bit About Kids Cook Real Food
Kids Cook Real Food is an online video course with 3 skill levels for kids ages 2-12.
“Mrs. Kimball” believes that teaching kids to cook real food is a foundational step to tackling our culture’s health issues.
She wants to see every kid in America learn how to cook real food just like these confident members:
“I loved the practice the boys got on those basic kitchen skills.
They were both excited that they’re on their way to being able to cook on their own.
My 7-year-old was like, ‘Now I can follow any recipe and cook anything!’”
With kids in the videos to inspire yours to participate, your family will benefit from over 30 basic cooking skills and 100% whole foods recipes (plus adaptations for every food restriction out there).
But the course is only open for enrollment a few times a year, and this is one of them!
You’ll want to sign up during the next week because the course is only accepting new members until March 16th!
The Beginner Level (for preschoolers)
It focuses on small motor skills, positive connection in the kitchen, and helping little ones have some skills they can do “all by themselves,” like:
- Carrying glass dishes to serve
- Spreading butter
- Peeling vegetables
- Slicing with a dull knife
- Measuring ingredients (with a special method to help non-readers be independent!)
- Blending spice mixes
- Careful pouring
- Making a salad
The Intermediate Level (for kids who can read)
It focuses on independence and confidence in the kitchen, mastering skills like:
- Setting the table
- Making homemade salad dressings
- Introduction to sharp knives
- Cracking eggs
- Mixing simple recipes independently
- Stovetop safety
- Flipping pancakes
- Browning ground meat
The Advanced Level
This is where kids master the chef’s knife and learn to make entire meals, really any basic recipe they come across, by the time they graduate.
Classes include:
- Sautéing vegetables
- Using a small appliance (food processor taught)
- Sharp knife skills, levels 1-4 (straight vegetables, peppers, onions, melons, apples)
- Crushing garlic
- Making a white sauce/cheese sauce
- Oven safety
- Steaming vegetables
“My kids (ages 8, 10) absolutely love it! It has even helped my picky eater want to try new foods.
We have multiple food allergies in our home and try to cook only real food already, but I didn’t know how to teach my kids the techniques.
I am learning so much too!”
You’ll get a roadmap of interconnected cooking skills so you don’t have to think about where to start, plus fun memory phrases that bring all the basic techniques right to a kid’s level.
You’ll love the common vocabulary for the kitchen (and your kids will love the feeling of creating food to feed the family).
Don’t delay signing up for this amazing course to get those memories and life skills happening – it’s only available until March 16th!!
