Children will obviously enjoy help decorate your Christmas tree at home, but once it is decorated, they can’t shouldn’t take all the decorations down and redecorate it.
If we let our children redecorate the tree any time they wanted, it would just end up being a weird-looking tree and maybe have a few broken ornaments to clean up each time.
So why not offer an alternative like this Christmas Tree Decorating Activity with free homeschool printable?
It isn’t breakable. It is reusable. It is fun. And most of all, it is festive and beautiful.

These are one of my children’s favorite Christmas tree decoration printables!
They would be so excited to use this Christmas tree template year after year.
Read on to find out how to put together and decorate a Christmas tree printable activity.
This is what you need for these Christmas tree activities:
– 2 ziplock bags (gallon-sized)
– a copy of the printable (at the end of this post)

Steps for the Christmas activities for kids:
You will get two printable Christmas trees with ornaments, gifts and other decorations to play with. Decide if you want to print both trees or just one.
1. Print the paper Christmas tree or trees you want from the free printable (at the bottom of this post).
2. Laminate each tree page.
3. Cut each ornament, gift and decoration.
4. Cut the trees if you want. I left mine with the white around them. It is easier to put decorations and gifts around if the white part is left on. If you want to, cut around the trees to have just the tree with no white background. This is a better of taste and preference.
5. Place each tree with their own decorations and gifts in their own separate ziplock bag to keep organized.
This Christmas Tree decorating activity helps children develop fine motor skills
Children will carefully pick up each ornament, each birdie, each candy cane to strategically place on the tree.
Since the tree and the decorations have been laminated, they are a bit slick, so children will be extra careful with placement.
It is the perfect craft for kids around this time of year.

This Christmas Tree decorating activity reinforces holiday traditions in families
These are great Christmas crafts for kids (toddlers and preschoolers and even older children) for many reasons, but this one is my favorite.
I am all about encouraging family traditions (old and new), especially during the holiday season.
We have our yearly traditions and I just love saving all of these kinds of props and activities in our Christmas bins.
As soon as we are ready to decorate, it ALL comes out. So exciting! It is a time I always look forward to.
