Christmas time is here! We LOVE Christmas time!
The first thing we did as soon as December hit was taking out our Christmas books and we picked out some wonderful Christmas books at the library.
I am happy to share with you a list of some of our favorite Christmas books and highlight our TOP favorite ones!
And don’t forget to see our book list hub! It is full of lists of books on all kinds of topics on all subjects!
You will love it and find it very helpful!
Here is our list of some of our favorite Christmas books to read during this season:
~ Alfie’s Christmas “Hughes is a magical storyteller with an instinctive understanding of the mind of a pre-schooler.” โGuardian on Hughes
~ Paul’s Christmas Birthday My husband and I not only have a birthday on a holiday, but we actually share a birthday!
This story is about the character’s mixed feelings about having a birthday on Christmas Eve. We love holiday AND shared birthdays!
~ A Houseful of Christmas Definitely one of our favorites! It is sweet and funny.
It rhymes and is full of family love in spite of how different its members are.
~ Sam’s Wild West Christmas We love the humor in this book with all the drama of the Old West and how the characters try to avoid Christmas from getting sidetracked.
~ On Christmas Eve Our favorite quote from the book: “In the big, quiet house where parents are sleeping, the children wait and listen, thinking of reindeer and angels and stars.
Then, with no sound but their own thumping hearts, the children creep downstairs to see the glorious tree and to make a Christmas wish.”
~ Something for Christmas is the one book out of the bunch that Brother keeps reading over and over. It is easy to read, the message is simple and fun.
~ Christmas in the Forest is a cute story and it is great for preschoolers and older.

~ The Christmas Gift / El regalo de Navidad We LOVE bilingual books and this is a very special one with a sweet storyline.
~ Christmas Moon (out of print, but definitely worth mentioning)
~ CHRISTMAS PARADE is one of our very favorites. It is full of fun and noise and nonsense.
We laugh and exaggerate the onomatopoeia as much as we can.
And here is our ALL TIME favorite!!!!
~ The Soldiers’ Night Before Christmas is our favorite by far. Yes, it makes you laugh and it makes you cry.
It makes you feel proud of those who choose to be in harm’s way to protect us and it makes you sad for their families left to celebrate without them.
But most of all, we love how this book was written and how even soldiers far, far away can still celebrate and have a very special Christmas.
They are NEVER forgotten!
I hope you enjoyed this list as much as we do!
Which one caught your attention the most? Which one will you try to read with your children first?
