After grabbing a couple of books, a few DVDs and floundering around YouTube for Hebrew clips for kids, I was at a loss. I wasn’t learning and, of course, my kids weren’t learning either.

Then I found an awesome way for kids to learn the foreign language called Hebrew. It is spoken in Israel and a few other areas where Jewish people live.

In the United States, there are large Jewish communities in several northeastern states, including New York.

Setup

When you first sign up, you will go to the first lesson and always scout it out before you start. Ana has great downloads like the ones you see in the pictures for you to print and have ready for your kids.

Once you download them and print them, put them in their binders, along with the lined paper to take notes as we go along.

The lessons themselves are online, so you go to the website, log in and find your lesson. Have all of your materials ready, but you can always pause it if you need to.

I love how relaxed the lessons are, in terms of fun and educational. Ana has a great mix of songs, new words and more as we learn letters in the Hebrew alphabet.

It was eye-opening to me that there aren’t really vowels in Hebrew, but the little symbols under consonants tell you which vowel to use!

Her lessons are awesome, really. What has worked for us is to break them down in to shorter doses. For example, her online lessons average 1 hour long and they cover a lot.

We have found that it works well for us to watch 20 minutes per session and then work on our Handwriting without Tears book.

The beautiful thing is that you can make it work for you any way you want. I know that shorter sessions means taking longer to learn, but that is ok for us.

I love to have that option! Ana has designed her course very well and it is full of helpful links and other free resources to help us succeed in our venture.

The best part is that we are actually learning a lot! Today, for example, she wrote an English word, but using Hebrew script letters and I guessed it right!
