These are such simple Montessori at home Practical Life activities that children really enjoy and spend a lot of time in without even noticing that they are practicing some very important developmental skills like fine motor skills, patience, concentration, focus, creativity, patterning, etc.
Materials:
– Any trays, plates, dishes, foam or whatever you can find that has dividers (see pictures for inspiration).
– Marbles
– Spoons
I got different patterns of foam material that can be gotten in mattress stores or one that you aren’t using anymore (just cut up into 12×12 inch squares).
Children simply use the spoon to transfer the marbles onto the mat or tray they have chosen. Then they transfer back into the bowl. Repeat. Try different tray, bowls, plates and different-sized marbles.
Make patterns, go free style, go fast, go slow, share trays, each get your own, etc. Enjoy. Have fun.
We use the trays and mats you see in these pictures, but we also use their dinner plates that have the dividers and we also use various bins. Be creative and find containers around your house. That is a fun activity, too.
