We love traveling and playing and spending time outdoors as a family. We also love learning about the wonders of the natural world and also about the wonders of the world.
In this post, we will share with you some indoor activities where we learned about the outdoors. Enjoy and get inspired!
Wonders of the Natural World & Wonders of the World Activities for Preschoolers
To start out, we opened our amazing Little Passports Early Explorers (Ages 3-5) Natural Wonders package. Sister was enthralled with her HUGE pyrite rock.
Commonly known as fool’s gold, she didn’t care… it was shiny and golden and that is all that mattered. 😀
We learned about all kinds of natural wonders of the world.
One of my daughter’s favorite activities in the activity book is the rainbow…the prettiest natural wonder of the world. Don’t you think rainbows are fantastic?
We loved reading about the Grand Canyon and Arches in Utah. As a perfect segway, we watched a slideshow of our trips to the Grand Canyon two years ago and our Arches trip last summer.
When it comes to Wonders of the Natural World & Wonders of the World and studying about amazing spots, it is only common sensical to study rocks and minerals as well.
This is a super awesome book that has helped us learn so much!
We also learned so much by going to a “rock garden.” It was fun finding in our book the rocks that got our attention at the rock garden. Then, we picked our favorite one and bought it.
You can also o buy your own collection with a great variety HERE. The book is called Rocks and Minerals.
Another activity that we love to do is read! Yes! We read about national parks.
Our hope is to someday visit as many national parks as we can, but as of now, but as of now, we read this awesome pop-up book with SO MUCH information!
There are tons of pop-up tabs that are all over in every single page!
Since we are still talking about these awesome Wonders of the Natural World & Wonders of the World, here is another activity that we did. Wow.
I’m telling you: Little Passports Early Explorers impresses us month after month. We love receiving the packages from them!
This package was on Wonders of the World. It included a fun puzzle with so many beautiful places highlighted a flashlight book with wonders of the world.

This is kind of hard to explain, but I will try because it is so awesome. The flashlight booklet has pictures and a black transparency on it.
Then, the cardstock flashlight is put behind the black transparency to reveal the wonders of the world. It is fascinating! It is such a great trick!
What do you think? Isn’t it fun to learn about these fantastic places? Which one is your favorite?
By the way, Early Explorers is for ages 3-5 and every month it covers a different topic, including Landmarks, Music, Animals, Food, Art, Natural Wonders, Oceans, World Coins, Space, World Discoveries, Dinosaurs, Science, Celebrations, Habitats, Transportation, Insects and Sports.
