They got the multiplication and division concepts really well!
Multiplication and Division Activities
In this post, I will talk with you two games that we played a few times and my kids kept asking to play them again and again. Come take a look. There is nothing better than to make learning fun and, when we gift our kids games, they can’t help it but learn. I’m a big advocate of letting kids be kids and this is a great way to let them learn while playing! And what is great is that we, the parents, have fun, too!
Multiplication Facts Game
The multiplication game we played with is called Say Cheese Café. It came complete with very thorough instructions and learning multiplication with mice and cheese was awesome! Who would’ve thought?! We set up the game and set to play. The game says it is for children ages 7 and up, so I was concerned about my 4-year old playing. I gave her a chance anyway because she was so excited to try it.

I am glad I let her try! Because she is already skip-counting up to fifteen, it was super amazing to watch the little lightbulb go off in her head. She started to get the multiplication concept. Granted, it was rudimentary, but skip counting really brought it home. I just loved how easy it is to learn multiplication with Say Cheese Café.
Multiplication and Division Games
Once we got the multiplication post down and were understanding it well, I wondered if we should try the division game the next day or to wait longer. With my son being able to multiply just fine, we decided to tackle the ominous topic of division and check out this game. It is different from Say Cheese Café because it has fishermen, fish and villagers as characters and the game is set up differently.

Introducing division couldn’t have been easier or more fun than with using Big Catch! Oh! It was so easy to have the fisherman catch some fish and then divide the fish amongst the villagers. Having hands-on props helped a lot. Also, they introduce and use the concept of remainder (leftover) numbers, which is sometimes a concept that is difficult for children to grasp effectively. In conclusion, I highly recommend both games because they are fun, effective and educational. They work and they teach and reinforce the concepts well. I think you’ll be glad you go these games for your kids. You can let them play them anytime of plan for a fun family game night!
