We love the outdoors and we are always going outside, weather permitting. But sometimes, it is fun to bring the fun inside. One of the biggest open areas in our house is the living room, so that is the room we use when we need open areas. The weather wasn’t yielding for us to hang out outside, so I brought it all inside.
Living Room
The setup was Camping Indoors! How fun is that?! I moved our ottoman out of the way and I set up the living room to look like an open camping canopy. Isn’t it perfect? We had so much fun!
So Much Fun
We ate popcorn and moonpops. We set up a salt lamp to be a pretend campfire. We had child-sized sleeping bags, pillows, folding chairs for kids and stuffed teddy bears. We sat together under the canopy to sing songs, eat our snack, to make crafts and to read some books.
Make the Living Room the Most Fun Room in Your House
Keep on reading to get some awesome ideas. We read some of those books and made some of those crafts. Our favorite parts were playing some board games and making up stories. We took turns sharing the stories we were making up. 🙂
The kids actually did fall asleep under the canopy and slept through the night. Are we planning on doing this again? Absolutely! Tearing down camp was super quick and super easy, especially because everyone was helping. It is definitely worth giving it a try.

I absolutely love love love this idea! My daughter and I have been planning on having a fun living room sleepover party with grandma since we are living with my in-laws right now. This is exactly what I needed for some fun ideas besides watching a movie! Thank you so much for this post. I am pinning for sure.
