We have been loving our Science activities lately.
The quick and easy Science experiments we have been doing have been full of educational concepts and my kids just think that they’re fun Summer activities to keep them entertained.
Oh no!
They are actually learning more than they know!
Come take a look at how much we learned about DNA with our fingerprint studies.

Simple Science Experiments for Kids
We’ve been using Little Passports Science Kits for Kids for our awesome Science experiments adventures.
We all love it so much!
It comes with everything we need and always arrives at our door around the same time each month.
In our experience, this kit is really complete because it goes into topics very thoroughly.
Let’s get into our fingerprint and DNA activities!
First, we used the Little Passports instructions to extract the DNA out of a strawberry! Yes! You red that right!
Our very first experiment was that! How cool, huh? These images below were our second and third experiments.
We learned about DNA and the uniqueness of fingerprints.
In general, we learned about different kinds of “swirls” on our fingertips and we learned how to analyze them.
We used the chart included as well as the ink pad to place our fingerprints on the correct squares.
Then we used the magnifying glass (also included in the kit) to look at them up-close.
It was really fun to see how my kids’ fingerprints are different.

But we didn’t stop there! We used the ink pad to put a thumbprint on a white balloon and let it dry.
Then we blew up the balloon and the thumbprint grew so big!
It was so much fun doing that part. But we learned a lot by being able to literally blow up our fingerprints to seeing them that big.
With this experiment, we learned more terms than just the 3 main kinds of swirls on fingerprints.
You can see them below.
There are so many and it was a lot of fun analyzing our own fingerprints and letting everyone know if we found any of these other characteristics that are unique to each human being.
Science Experiment Kits for Kids
These quick and easy Science experiments are the best! We have received a half dozen or so boxes now and every single one is a lot of fun.
We highly recommend Little Passports!

Really great post. This answered the majority of my questions. When I read this I actually opened up a word document and started taking notes haha.
