Montessori at Home Farm Activities for Kids

What you need for the sensory bin:

wooden tray
bag of unpopped corn kernels
bag of split peas
a roll of modeling clay
a set of farm miniature replicas

Types of Farm Animals

We just love all of the products by Safari Ltd! This time, we used our Down by the Farm toob, but we also have other farm mini replicas to play with. For this sensory bin, we went with corn kernels and split peas for the substrate. Using the modeling clay, I rolled it into a long snake and placed it as a divider in the tray.

In the larger part, I added the corn kernels and in the smaller part, I added the split peas. Then I let the kids take the farm mini replicas out of their package and place them around the sensory bin. They had so much fun with it! It has a farmer, a barn, a tractor, a bale of hay and some typical farm animals.

Learn to Name Farm Animals and Items

My kids have really taken to learning to spell words out loud, kind of like at Spelling Bee contests. So while they played, they had fun spelling the name of farm animals and the farm items. Well, they also started role playing. I’m telling you: your kids will LOVE these amazing Safari Ltd mini replicas and all of the hundreds of sets the have!
