When I was a teacher (many, many years ago), ever since I saw a kids light table, I knew I wanted to get one for my kids (whenever I had any). Their benefits are endless!
Light tables can be used for anything and everything! Hands-on light table ideas galore float through my head non-stop whenever I think about a lesson.
It works for any age, any level, any grade, any subject, any lesson… you get the idea. Let me show you just in how many ways you can use the light table for kids at home.
Preschool Light Table
These are many different kinds of light tables and screens out there. Some are more durable than others and some have a lip around the edge for hands-on things such as tiles.
I personally like the Guidecraft light table, but we also have a flat table top light table that we can use on a whim. The table top is easily carried around and that is why we like it.
You can try a light table or you can check out light boxes. too. All of them are great to use in the Elementary, early childhood or preschool classroom or homeschool room.
Come and take a look at some of our favorites. I know you will have a really hard time picking your favorite one, but I recommend that you go with the one that you will get the most out of.
In our case, we used the light table more when the kids were younger because they are more durable. As the kids grew, I saw that they still really liked the light table, but we needed the room.
So, when I got rid of the light table, we got an awesome table top light screen. We can still use a lot of our great manipulatives and hands-on toys with it, but without the big light table.

Light Table Toys
You can use the light table for educational purposes, but you can also use it just for fun! You can use it for light table preschool, toddler, kinder and even Elementary!
