My son has a real gift to play the piano. We had been wanting one for a long time, but the closest piano lessons are too far from where we live. I was trying to out-source these lessons because, as a homeschooling mom, I am already taking on such a long list of subjects to teach.
But, I really wanted to give my son (and daughter) the opportunity to learn to play the piano without using up two mornings a week to make the long drive to the lessons and back. So, I had to have a serious talk with myself. I had to be honest. Piano is an instrument I love and it is one I played for many years.
And yes, even though I was very rusty, I decided to start lessons at home. My son is a quick learner and picked up on the lessons faster than I was putting them out. He was dedicated and he moved up from the little kids’, one-handed exercises in no time.

That is when I found out about Legacy Learning System and that they have a phenomenal piano program. There are many wonderful programs that they offer (guitar, ballroom dancing, painting, etc), but piano is the one that caught my attention. So we decided to get the complete course.
It is for beginners, but it advances at a great pace and goes into multi-level mode quickly. So both my son (he just turned seven years old) and I (a rusty 12-year piano-playing veteran) could both benefit.
The best part about the program, to be honest, is that we can take piano lessons in the comfort of our own home. We can also work at our own pace and move forward or stay in a lesson whenever we want. It truly is liberating to know that we can take piano lessons once a week if we have a busy week. Or we can take it 5 times a week if we are really interested in learning a song.
