When it comes to homeschooling, we want to be sure that our children grow up to be well-rounded individuals. Let’s make sure to include some amazing historical fiction stories that will build up their courage and character.

Let’s talk about my favorite of all: Under Drake’s Flag. Not only was this my first encounter with Heirloom Audio Productions, but it was actually my first meeting with any of G.A. Henty’s work. Here is our review of it.

The second audiobook we got to review is The Dragon and The Raven. Wow, this audiobook is just as amazing as Under Drake’s Flag. We listened to it in the car and my children have asked to listen to it often.

We love the sound effects, the storyline and the characters. My favorite is the narrator’s voice and how interesting the plot is. I also love how much my children and I are learning about those time periods through the details that are interwoven into the story.

More Historical Fiction Fun

In Freedom’s Cause is one that I have been waiting to get for our homeschool. I am so glad to have it in my hands now. We are going on a road trip in a few days and this is definitely going with us! We will listen to it in the car as we learn more about Wallace and Bruce and their heroic acts in this fantastic historical fiction audiobook.

I have heard way too any good things about it and I am sure it won’t disappoint us at all. Heirloom Audio Productions does a fantastic job at bringing G.A. Henty’s stories to life.

We will be studying the Civil War soon and I am sure that including With Lee in Virginia into this unit will be a definite must! Can you imagine listening to a story about the Civil War where it will make us feel like we were actually rally there?

Brian Blessed is the narrator in this audiobook as well, yay! Kirk Cameron is in it, too. The cast is just amazing for With Lee in Virginia and I cannot wait to listen to it. We now have it and I’m excited to Civil War studies!
