We have been learning Math for years, but honestly, we have found one program we love and have stuck with it for about two years now.
This is great to find what works for homeschooling kids and moms.
In this post, I will share with you how we do online Math for kids and why we enjoy it so much.
Let’s start with talking about how educationally sound it is, how well the kids are learning and how it makes our lives easier.
I will also talk about how fun the kids think it is and how learning doesn’t feel like a drag or like it is one more chore to check off our homeschooling list.
Online Math for Kids
Moms love GPALearn because it is all right there for you.
There is no prep work, no bulky or messy materials and no clean-up.
It is all online. It can be used on mobile, tablet, laptop and desktop.
Online Math with kids has never been easier! I love it!
We do our Math lesson first thing in the morning, right after breakfast.
Lessons are divided by grades, so my daughter is doing first grade and my son is in third grade.
She sits next to me with her tablet so we work on it together, although the lessons are great to work on independently.
My son works on his lesson at the same time at his laptop.
Each grade is divided into three sections:
for 1st grade, they are operations and algebraic thinking, number and operations in base ten and measurement and data and geometry.
Lessons unlock in the different sections as the child masters/advances.
And then each lesson is divided into three parts: lesson, practice and quiz.
For example, if my daughter chooses an unlocked lesson on tens frames, she will go through the lesson part.
Her online “coach,” which is a cartoon character, will walk her through the new vocabulary, the lesson and problems in several different ways.
Once she finishes the lesson, she will move on to the guided practice and then the quiz.
The guided practice is easy for her to follow because she gets immediate feedback on what she did right or wrong and why.
That is a great feature. The quiz is 10 questions for the lower grades and 15 questions starting in the 3rd grade.
The quiz gets an excellent, a master or a fair grade.
If the child got 5 right or less, then the child will retake the lesson and practice to retry taking the quiz.
This program really makes sure that the child learns the material well.
And then parents get an email with details on how the child did on the lesson and their quiz grade.
Online Math Programs for Kids
Now for the fun part!
GPALearn really gives us the impression like the lessons are online Math for kids games!
Really! They are a lot of fun and interesting.
Some grades solve mysteries within the lessons, some give out ancient history facts and some grades give out animal facts as well.
It is so fun!
My children and I love GPALearn and highly recommend it!
They cheer when it’s time to do it, when they receive incentive messages for a job well done, when they advance in grade and when they get good grades in their quizzes.
