The Star of Christmas Interactive Advent Calendar

There are many kids advent calendars out there, but this one was very special for our family for years.

We alternate between this one and the Jesse Tree and every year, both are a complete success!

So let’s get started!

For this Star of Christmas advent calendar, you need:

• the printable in this post (printed in color)
• scissors
• glue or tape
• a star ornament (any size and color)
• optional: colored construction paper or a big poster board sheet

This is not a traditional advent calendar. It is very special.

Basically, you will print out the advent calendar and cards (below).

Pick out the look you prefer on the advent calendar.

I have the small Christmas trees and the squares look.

Once you have picked your favorite, cut out the 25 cards and fold them in half.

Then cut out the cards and glue or tape them inside each card.

Check to make sure they match the numbers on the card with the one inside.

Then, you can decide to keep them in a stack and read one each day or you can use a piece of construction paper or poster board and create a shape with the cards (like the main image on this post).

Glue them on, if that is what you prefer.

Instead of the Elf on the Shelf Idea

The way we prefer to do it is this: every day, the star ornament is found in a different place in the house.

I like to place that day’s card with the star ornament. You can see pictures below.

It is so much fun to watch the kids wake up in the morning and look around the house to find the star ornament and card somewhere.

I think this is the best advent calendar because it is interactive and it is fun.

It also encourages doing good things every day for 25 days in December.

It is a great way to make this kids advent calendar hands-on and a lot of fun!
