When it comes to Montessori learning, we really enjoy all of the works because they entail hands-on learning, engaged education and the presence of control of error for activities, which fosters independence.
Our most used work, hands down, is our set of Montessori 3-part cards.

Keeping Montessori 3-Part Cards Organized
We have so many 3-part card sets!
We need to keep them organized somehow.
It is important that we can have them accessible, visible, organized and separate so they don’t get all mixed up.
In this post, we show you how we made our own 3-part card pockets and we have a free pouch template for you to print and use as a guide.
We started collecting them here and there, but since we love them so much, I started to make a lot for us to use.
I make them for any and every subject and topic under the sun.
And we offer them in our homeschool blog, too!
So let’s get started!
For this DIY 3-part card pocket tutorial, you will need:
- colored paper or cardstock
- scissors
- tacky glue
- Wooden box to store the pockets
- marker

DIY Montessori at home 3-Part Cards Pocket Tutorial
Step 1:
Print out this free 3-Part Card pocket template on a regular piece of paper.
This is for you to use as a guide.
Or to make your life easier, just print this template directly on all of your colored paper.
We chose a nice brown color for our pockets, but you can use different colors for each subject.
It will make it easier to sort through them and find what you are looking for.
Step 2:
Cut around the entire large rectangle.
Don’t cut the smaller rectangles, but keep it all together as a large rectangle.
If you have a guillotine (link), you can cut these super fast because you can cut as many as 10 sheets at once.
Step 3:
There is a line dividing the bigger rectangle from the smaller rectangle.
That is where you will fold.
Fold along that line and make a nice and firm crease all the way through.
Open the folded part back up.
Step 4:
On the two skinny grey rectangles, put one line of glue and fold back up to create a pocket.
Put some pressure on parts with glue (maybe place a book on top) to make sure it glues correctly and completely.
Step 5:
Make sure that the glue is dry completely before placing the 3-Part Card pieces in the pockets.
On the top part of the larger rectangle, label the pocket with the topic or subject of the 3-part cards that are in it.
This will make it a lot easier to sort through and find what you are looking for.
I hope this tutorial has helped you and that it will keep your 3-Part Cards organized!
