Go beyond teaching your children how to make a boiled egg and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches! It’s awesome for kids to learn Practical Life activities, including delicious easy recipes.
Getting kids in the kitchen and teaching them how to cook real food is sooo important! Start with young children (as young as 18 months) and grow in skill of difficulty.
One of my biggest “burdens” as a parents is to help my children gain independence, confidence and self-sufficiency. I think you will agree with me.
The truth is that the best way for children to learn these well and make them life-long skills, they need to be interested and involved in the learning experience.
I am not saying that it always has to be fun and that you have to bend over backwards to make them enjoy the activities, but the more interesting, the better.
Why not consider teaching your kids these and many more wonderful skills through cooking and baking? Let’s take a look at how to teach easy cooking recipes for kids!
How to Teach Easy Cooking Recipes for Kids
Imagine waking up to French Toast that your kids made…
What if your kids, through fun cooking, are developing and practicing their fine motor skills?
I am so excited to watch my kids blossom in their confidence, creativity and self-sufficiency through cooking!
Teaching children skills such as using kitchen and cooking tools is essential. When doing this, always look for the best kitchen tools.
For instance, take a look at this Anova review of the precision cooker – precision cooking made easy, which is perfect for children!
After all, you want to be able to focus on cooking and not on fixing faulty tools.
One of my absolute favorite kid friendly resources for doing so is my Kids Cook Real Food VIP Membership.
When my son learned all about knife safety and the 4 different ways to cut with a knife while cooking (or food prep), it was amazing how much he changed!
He was more confident, he offered to cook for the family, he got creative and started making variations to his recipes and he learned to follow instructions (in recipes).
He also recruited his sister to be his assistant. I loved the teamwork that came through this! Isn’t it amazing how much kids can learn with these fun lessons?!
Out of the corner of the kitchen, I’d watch my son set up the plates and carefully placing the food, paying attention to presentation, not just flavor.
His face would glow when he’d call us into the kitchen and would watch us intently as we tried the food. I loved seeing his smile so much as we’d tell him that his food was amazing!
Reasons You Will Love Kids Cook Real Food:
- Watching the kids cook on the Kids Cook Real Food videos gave me the courage to get my kids in the kitchen and just START cooking. With “Mrs. Kimball” as the teacher, it was easier on me.
- My kids were much more interested to be learning from a video than from me, and I couldn’t believe how excited they were to eat those ants on a log, cucumbers, and carrots that they helped prepare!
- The best thing is to see the way kids blossom after taking the course: It builds their confidence, creativity, and personal responsibility in fun ways.
- I love how Katie’s course makes it so easy to teach our children, step by step, how to cook and eat real food.
I really think you will love having a Kids Cook Real Food VIP Membership, too!
But hurry… I just found out that they are only accepting new members until September 4th!!

Montessori Cooking Recipes
Yes! Kids Cook Real Food is also Montessori-friendly, in case you are a ‘Montessori at home’ family and want to stick to the program.
Food preparation activities are awesome for cooking with your child at home. Cooking and baking is made easier when children can make them themselves and they’re foods that children love.
You can definitely have this set up in your Montessori classroom and at home. Do it as a family or with a small group of kids!
There are great skills, techniques and cooking/baking tips throughout. But there are also recipes. Delicious recipes, that is!
Try recipes with tomatoes or cream cheese. How about some recipes involving easy breakfasts they can make on their own?
Wouldn’t it be great to make lunch a super fun (and absolutely delicious) lesson, too? This course is all online, so all you need is your tablet, a computer screen or even your phone!
