Really, it is! Just follow the instructions below and your child will be enjoying a beautiful diorama.
Let me tell you something, though. If you don’t want it to be 3D, you don’t have to!
You can simply print them out, cut, laminate and let your child lay the backgrounds flat to place the pieces on top.
Every time, your child will create a beautiful and different Winter scene.

Materials to make a diorama:

- a box (any size you want, but I’d recommend it being at least 12 inches long and 8 inches wide, like a cereal box)
- white and light blue paint or paper (for snow and sky)
- scissors
- tacky glue or double-sided tape
- one or two sheets of cardstock
- optional: white paper or paint for the clouds or snowflakes.

Instructions to make a diorama:
- Print the Winter scene set on cardstock and in color.
- Cut the front of the box and the top.
- Glue or tape the blue and green paper or paint the inside of the box to resemble the sky and grass on the farm.
- Cut out the props and characters you want on your farm.
- Use the extra white cardstock to cut 1/2 inch strips.
- Measure the height of a character or prop on the back with one of the strips and fold it 3 times. Tape it or glue it to create a triangle.
- Glue or tape one side of the triangle to the back of the character. Now it can stand up!
- Do the same with the rest of the props and characters. You can also glue the silos, barn and house to the back of the box, over the blue for the sky, like you see in the picture below. Have fun arranging everything and everyone on the diorama.
- You can glue them to have a fixed set or you can let them freestand so your children can pretend play with them and move them around. This project would be perfect for lower elementary children.
- THE SNOW GLOBE PICTURE IS A SIMPLE, 2D ACTIVITY, NOT A DIORAMA (unless you glue small pieces of yardstick on the back so the characters seem to floating in the snow globe).
