Memorizing their home address and telephone number is probably the most important skills for children to know. Don’t you think? In this post, you will find important information on how your children can learn their home address and telephone number by using our free printable cards and reading some books.
My Home Address Lesson
These are the cards! I labeled what should go on every line. This is a great opportunity to teach children how to memorize their home address and phone number. We read Where Do I live? and played this board game by the same name: Where Do I Live?
We made a picture of our community and we talked about the name of our street.
Next, I showed them a map and pointed at our town, surrounding cities and state. We also learned about where our state is located in our country. It was so cool teaching the little lightbulbs go off in their heads. They really understood where we live.
We also talked about street names, the name of our street and streets around our home. We also discussed alternate routes to get from one place in our community (the library, for example) to our home.
We marked our friends’ homes and mapped out routes from their home to ours. This part was fun because then we spoke about different ways to go to a friend’s house and which one would be quicker (walking, running, by bike or by car).
Here are some books about homes that we enjoyed, just for fun.
