Topography (Geography) is one of our preferred subjects to examine in our homeschool.
We have researched and gone in depth about it.
We might delve into state flags someday, but as of now, we are concentrating on flags of just about any country in the world.
In this post, you will actually experience an amazing lesson with your kids!
We did in our homeschool, so we will be sharing it with you. It is about the flags of the world pictures to print.

Country Flags of the World
We have been concentrating on Geography and nations of the world throughout the years.
It is one of our top subjects. This free homeschool printable doesn’t have a specific grade level, but you can probably begin using them at about age 3 or 4.

These flag pictures like the American flag and the Mexican flag make the perfect educational printables for little ones to begin learning and making connections between country name and flag.
Look at the beautiful setup we used. We used our Montessori flags and map and our flags book.
On the back of the map, you can see the flag “key,” where you see the flags and the country name.
It is the perfect Montessori flags of the world activity! To learn how to use 3-part cards, go here.
We studied those and, by peering in our flags book, we determined which continent each country is located.
It will blow your mind when your children impress you with this kind of knowledge.

World Country Flags for Kids
We observed the nations and the landmasses to which they belong.
What’s more, next, we attempted to match each banner.
Carefully, we watched each banner intently, we discussed things and subtleties that we noticed on each banner.
We also talked about which nation each flag belongs with.
Also, we filled out a quick quiz where we had two sets of flags; we went through each flag.
If we could name of the flag’s country, we would place it to the left and if we couldn’t remember, we would place it on the right.
We studied the flags on the right a bit more.

There are some educational videos that can also help with this part.
A Fun Montessori at Home Geography Lesson
We got the feeling that we were getting close to successfully learning them all.
Next, we placed each flag by its corresponding country. Our note on the continents each county was located helped a lot.
Our flag book is divided by continent, so, if we knew the country and continent, but we couldn’t remember where the country was within that continent, then we would look in the book.
I know it sounds like it was thorough and time-consuming work, but believe me, both my children were engaged, intrigued and excited to make their discoveries.
The key was to provide them with everything they needed and then sit back and watch.
I wasn’t leading, I was simply giving the initial instructions and then let them go for it.

What do you think? Would your children enjoy this kind of lesson?
Would you go a step further and include more lessons to expand their Geography knowledge?
For these sets, you basically print two copies of each set (in color) and laminate them for durability.
You can do a matching activity, an i-spy game and even a “guess who?” game.
It is so much fun. So you don’t feel lost, I will include links to posts that you might find helpful at the end of this post.
Also, take a look at some awesome materials we have also used in our homeschool and that have been recommended to us by homeschooling friends.
