Snacks! Children LOVE snacks, right? What about snacks that are connected to a cool and amazing children’s book? Yes! Here is a snack that children can play with and eat and enjoy.
Stay on the lookout for our other Very Hungry Caterpillar posts and activities.
- a plate
- one cherry tomato for each caterpillar (they will be the head)
- green grapes (about 4 or 5 for each caterpillar)
- extra cherry tomatoes and green grapes to eat as a snack
- Optional: The Very Hungry Caterpillar storybook
Brother and Sister both worked on this after we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Each of them made their own caterpillars.
It was great for coordination, focus and slow, controlled movements to align the cherry tomato with the green grapes.
They would giggle every time a grape would roll off the line. It was fun when they wanted the caterpillars to get longer and longer by using more green grapes.
At the end of our snack playtime, we enjoyed the cherry tomatoes and the green grapes. They were delicious. Yes, it was ok to let the children play with their snack and yes, they even ate their cherry tomatoes.
