This is especially when it comes to being around others and keeping germs at bay.
I have always been a stickler about my children washing their hands, because, let’s face it, nothing cleans our hands better than the good ol’ warm water and soap.
But sometimes, we are not able to find those to wash our hands. The best option is to use hand sanitizer.
But did you know that hand sanitizer can be drying and might actually make germs burrow into the dry skin cracks!
In this post, I am going to show you how to solve that problem and how to make your own homemade hand sanitizing lotion with essential oils for immunity.
Young Living Essential Oils for Immunity
There are so many essential oils that help support our immune systems.
We all need that, but the more natural, the better.
Essential oils are safe and most smell amazing.
Let me list some of my favorite Young Living essential oils for immune system support.
I am listing them in order from most effective or potent to least, but still very helpful.
You can order them here.
- ImmuPower Essential Oil: Hyssop leaf oil, Mountain savory oil, Cistus oil, Camphor leaf oil, Frankincense oil, Oregano oil, Clove bud oil, Cumin seed oil and Dorado azul seed oil, carrier oil (my favorite immune supporting blend)
- Oregano Essential Oil
- Thieves Essential Oil: Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon, drops of Eucalyptus Radiata and Rosemary essential oils
- Frankincense Essential Oil
- Tea Tree Oil

I personally prefer to get essential oil blends because they contain a mix of at least 5 essential oils, but you can make your own mixes.
Homemade Hand Sanitizing Lotion
Now, you might ask me why hand sanitizing lotion and not gel?
Well, you could use witch hazel, isopropyl alcohol, aloe vera gel, rubbing alcohol or even vinegar, but that is very drying to skin, especially if you are using often.
The key to keeping hands sanitized to boost your immune system AND really safe from germs is to also keep them moisturized.
I tried using my homemade hand sanitizing gel and then lotion after, but it felt weird, the gel would clump up and make my hands feel sticky.
So I started to think about how to make a product that would both moisturize AND sanitize.
It should give us an immune boost and that kills viruses.
I did it!
We have been using it for a few weeks and I absolutely LOVE it!
I now have a huge pump bottle at home and a smaller bottle in my purse.
Here is how I made the home made hand sanitizing lotion with Young Living essential oils for immune system support:
Lavender LotionPurification Essential OilThieves Essential Oil
- pump bottle (preferably glass) or travel-sized containers
- liquidy lotion (I love the lavender lotion above)
- your choice of essential oils from the list above

Steps:
1- Choose your favorite immune-boosting essential oils. I chose four wonderful essential oils, both singles and blends.
These are: ImmuPower essential oil blend, Purification essential oil blend, Thieves essential oil blend and Tea Tree essential oil.
Since my lotion is ultra moisturizing and has the very soft and awesome lavender essential oil, so I don’t need to add any other moisturizing oils.
2- Squirt enough lotion into the pump bottles or the containers that you will use for the hand sanitizing lotions.
Use as much as you need, but don’t fill up to the very top.
3- Depending on how much lotion you have in the bottles will vary, and so will the amount of drops of essential oils you will use.
I put about 6 ounces of lotion in the pump bottle, so I used 5 drops of the four essential oils that I picked.
You will want to adjust your own amount of drops of essential oils, based on my amounts of lotion and drops.
Remember: I added 20 drops (5 drops of 4 different essential oils) to 6 ounces of lotion.
4- Shake the bottle with lotion and essential oil drops well and mix often.
Preferably, try to shake the bottle before each use, but it depends on how well your lotion of choice holds up.
The Young living lavender lotion is the softest and most amazing lotion I have every used.
It is the exact consistency that is needed for this hand sanitizing moisturizing lotion that we are making, so I highly recommend it.
Keeping Hands Clean
Like I said before, the best way to keep hands clean is by using warm water and soap.
There is no other way around it.
But whether you wash your hands a lot or use the alcohol-based hand sanitizer a lot, the fact is that your hands will dry out.
You will need to moisturize them. This isn’t just because they will be more comfortable, but because it keeps you from harboring germs in the cracks of your dry hands.
True story! Research it!
So, with this awesome homemade hand sanitizing lotion with essential oils for immunity, you are doubling up on safety, effectiveness and lovely soft hands!
You seriously need to try it. It is addictive and my hands are so soft!
